Birds of the Philippines - Mark's Photos
Lowland White-eye (Zosterops meyeni), endemic
Kampo Trexo, Alfonso, Cavite, 14 Jan 2012

Just finished with lunch, we were taking a rest while these birds would come and go to the trees around us. At first I didn't bother checking them out as I wanted to get a short nap. When rest time was finally over and I was preparing for the next activity, a noisy flock of these guys arrived.

These guys are very tough to shoot. Small and in perpetual motion, it takes a lot of patience to freeze one in frame. After hundreds of shots, I got this one having what looks like a caterpillar for lunch. The light coming from the mid-day sun was harsh and the fact that the bird was under the leaves made it even worse. Just imagine I was shooting ISO 1250 at noon!

40D, 400 f/5.6 L, ISO 1250, f/5.6, 1/320 sec, manual exposure, handheld
